Who are we? We come from afar and go very far.
We are travelers.
During the First World War, in the trenches of the Karst,
there were those who wrote poetry, immersed in mud and surrounded by death.
When Ungaretti,
January 26, 1917, I imagine him frozen and afraid,
he described the sunrise with
“m’illumino, d’immenso”
(“I enlighten up, with immense “)
that we all remember,
he wasn’t just writing, he was saving himself and our humanity,
reminding himself that he is still a man capable of wonder, of love, of poetry.
Poets were the guardians of life, and so was Rigoni Stern and, later, Salinger too.
We have gone from the pandemic to the war.
It’s not easy to find thoughts and words;
what we know is that we must all try to be sentinels of life,
of our humanity, and that being correct, altruistic and open, is more than ever a duty.
To preserve our humanity.
I don’t know if this has anything to do with BAM!,
but if it is true that it’s an event that speaks of being free and
brothers, first of all, maybe yes.
Some of you, perhaps, have been in Ukraine on bicycles.
If you want to make a donation to refugees,
you can do it here UNHCR
