Selle Royal “Support Cyclists on the road”: from European bike trails to BAM!

venerdì, 19 Maggio, 2023

Selle Royal “Support Cyclists on the road,” from European bike trails to BAM! to support cyclists and cycle travelers with bike maintenance tips and good coffee.
Follow the yellow and blue cargo bike, part cycle workshop, part coffee shop: on Saturday morning the Selle Royal team will be waiting for you at the Selle Royal Lab for a workshop during which “our mechanic Gabriele will give you practical tips for taking care of your bike on the road.”

How much does proper maintenance of your bike affect an enjoyable and memorable ride?
During a trip we are always putting our bike to the test. Proper maintenance ensures that we experience less fatigue and are safer with our bike. It is easier than we imagine!

What are the signs of usage to keep a closer eye on while riding?
Our bike gives us clear signals when it needs maintenance, so I recommend that you always keep a close eye on how well the brakes are working and how well the chain is cleaned and lubed. If you hear unusual noises coming from the chain or brakes it might be the right time for a checkup.

Which little tips can you give first-time cycle travelers?
The bike is a simple, accessible vehicle, but one that needs constant and fairly precise attention. There is information to get started all around us: many workshops but also websites and videos explain how to do maintenance. As a first step, I recommend learning how to keep your bike clean and with a lubricated chain, but if you are not sure you are doing it the right way and want to find out a lot more about this world, the best way to learn is to get your hands a little dirty and attend a workshop like the one we will hold at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 in the Lounge Area. I look forward to seeing you there!

Traveling comes with certain discomforts: how can the cycle traveler prevent them?e può il ciclo viaggiatore prevenirli?
Cycling while traveling can create discomfort for several reasons, the most common being two. The first is the choice of the size, which is as essential as for shoes: each cyclist has his or her own size, which is determined by the size of the frame. The second is the correct position on the saddle. It is essential to choose a saddle that suits your needs and body size, with a proper adjustment of the distance from the handlebars and the height of the saddle. These factors can really make your ride more enjoyable and comfortable.

The workshop will discuss with you travelers all the inconveniences that can happen and the best practical solutions to prevent them before the trip or treat them once you start. But that’s not all! You will be the ones to find the problems yourself and create ways to solve them; I will just try to travel along with you.
All you need is a Multi-Tool (if you don’t have one yet, you will find some available before the workshop starts) and your bike.

So?
It’s not over yet, cycle travelers! Let’s say goodbye before your departure on Sunday at dawn! We will be waiting for you at the entrance of the tent camp to offer you coffee and croissants to start your ride back with a smile! Will we see you at Bam? Of course we will!
